District 504 Information:

  1. Who is eligible for Section 504?
    person with a disability means any person who:
  • has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities,
  • has a record of such an impairment,
  • or is regarded as having such an impairment
  1. What are some examples of impairments which may qualify under Section 504?
  • ADHD
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Dyslexia
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes
  • and many more.
  1. What are some examples of non-impairments which would not qualify?
  • English Language Learners
  • Poverty
  • Transiency
  • Meer differences between people
  • Normal pregnancy
  • Relative weakness in cognitive areas
  • Common personality traits such as poor judgment or quick temper where these are not symptoms of a mental or psychological disorder
  • Pre-disposition to illness or disease
  • Family issues such as divorce or death of a family member
